Explain why adaptability and interpersonal skills are
important to an IT professional.
According
to the Rusty Nail (2005), IT professional is a term that gets thrown around a
lot, particularly when dealing with any part of the computer industry or jobs relating
to it. Profession is a calling that requires specialized knowledge
and long and intensive academic preparation. Any person who is used to about the hardware,
software, and some programming is not an IT Professional. They are just an IT
person who has some knowledge about the computers. Indeed IT professional is
the people who have the capability of handling computers and its component in well
mannered, ethical and professional way.
Adaptability
is the capability of adjustment. Moreover it’s being able to adjust oneself in
any different condition. IT both creates and eliminates jobs. As jobs are
created or eliminated, labor markets adjust in complex ways. We might be able
to work in the pressure of the different people. Sometimes might be we need to
change our places due to placement or transfer. In the business world of today,
change is the constant. Survival depends upon innovation, flexibility, and an
adaptive mind-set. Thus we need to have the ability to adopt the situation as
being an IT professional.
For
example: Software
piracy is the act of illegally making copies of software or enabling others to
access software to which they are not entitled. The professional people won’t
support and take participate on those act. Many industries have their own
secret information, IT professional people helps to keep the information safe
and confidential.
Interpersonal
skills are the life skills we use every day to communicate and interact with
other people, individually and in groups. Interpersonal skills include not
only how we communicate with others, but also our confidence and our ability to
listen and understand. Problem solving, decision making and personal stress
management are also considered as our personal skills.
In
context of IT professional studies have shown that their ability to work with
people can make the difference between IT project failure and success.
Communication is the vital factor for it professional. It is because IT is not
all about to work with yourself but it more about the communication and
interaction between client, profession and the people. With the interpersonal
skill they have we can more work once step ahead compare another profession.
In
conclusion we can that the IT profession have the great responsibility of the
entire organization. They are the main people who have can put the entire
organization on the peak of success and the bottom as the failure.
